Position Title: Kitchen Hand / Prep Worker

Compensation: $15/hour 

Timeframe: 8-10 hours a week on mostly Tuesdays, Mid-July through mid-October

Position Description: Veggie Chop Shop, run by the nonprofit Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee, is a community meal program that utilizes gleaned and donated produce to create healthy meals for those living in shelters or visiting free meal sites. During the Veggie Chop Shop season, approximately 500 meals are distributed on a weekly basis to up to 10 area meal sites.

We are looking for kitchen support for the weekly operations of the program, including washing and cutting vegetables, doing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen. Occasionally will help with recipes and with moving/lifting produce. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a kitchen environment preferred
  • Can lift up to 30 lbs
  • Comfortable working on their feet
  • Capable of using a knife to prepare food efficiently
  • Comfortable working alongside volunteers of various backgrounds

Timeframe: June 14 – Sept 20, 2022
