While the white snow is covering the ground, the foundation is being set underground for a spring of fresh grass and buds of leaves. Winters can seem so long and yet when spring comes, that distance gives us a great appreciation for this chance at a new beginning. The upcoming Jewish holiday of Tu BiShvat helps us get in the right mental space for this upcoming season of rebirth as it celebrates the New Year of the Trees and marks the beginning of the new agricultural cycle. I recommend you learn more here.
We at Tikkun Ha-Ir are excited to be entering the next ‘season’ of our organization. We have set the stage for more family volunteering, opportunities to participate in interfaith service and voter registration and to sign up for more hands-on opportunities to Repair our City, Tikkun Ha-Ir. Thanks to so many of you who came out to buy gifts and winter essentials and volunteer for the Holiday Gifts Drive, volunteering on Dec 24th or 25th, and to all who support our organization. Having just finished a new strategic plan, our staff and board are dreaming together about a new spring that includes more dedicated time listening to YOU, our committed community. We invite you to join us at one of these upcoming events, join our Tikkun Volunteers Facebook group, or contact us to learn more about all the work we are doing together and where we hope to grow. Wishing you a sweet Tu Bishvat, may it be fruit-full!
